My Story

Growing up, I have always been passionate about dogs.  Some of my first jobs were working in kennels and doggie daycares. I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a Certified Dog Trainer and enrolled in Animal Behavior College (ABC) for dog training. I graduated from Animal Behavior College with honors in September of 2017.

From there, I was hooked. I strived to learn as much about my new career as I could, earning certifications in Fear Free and as a Bite Safety Instructor. I then went on to become a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant (CBCC-KA) in November of 2020. I continue to increase my understanding of behavior by watching webinars, listening to podcasts, taking online classes, and working to earn more certifications.

After earning my certification from ABC, I spent three years of my career working in animal welfare. I trained alongside my mentor, Rachel Gentz. Working with an experienced trainer helped me to put the things I had learned into practice and learn new techniques. Together, we trained dogs inside the shelter to help them become better candidates for adoption, as well as help them manage their stress while they were in our care. I offered counseling to the adopters, no matter if they had adopted a dog two days ago, or years prior. I wanted to see these families grow and be as successful as possible. The shelter offered me the opportunity to teach free group classes for our adopters and in-home services. The dogs I met through the shelter system molded me into the trainer I am today. They will always be one of my biggest motivations to continue to train dogs, educate their owners, and expand my knowledge.

After my time at the shelter, I worked as an independent contractor doing personalized in-homes, instructing group classes, and running a puppy socialization daycare program. Here, I learned the art of personalized, 1-on-1 training along with continuing to practice my skills instructing group classes and training puppies. From there, I went on to open my very own first dog training business in Macomb, MI. I serviced Macomb, MI for a little over a year with great success. Wanting to escape the harsh winters Michigan brings, I then decided it was time to move out of state to open Columbia K9 Training & Behavior!

With my extensive background training working with a wide variety of dogs, plus my certifications, I am certain I can help you and your dog accomplish your goals!

Hiiiiii friends. I promise I’m still ali

I enjoy spending quality time with my two very own dogs, Viper(left) and Bumblebee(right). We love to go hiking and learn new things together! They are both rescues and are the light of my life.
